About Hoist Headroom
Headroom is defined as the distance between the point on the hook where the load will be hung and the point where the hoist, or hoist and trolley, links to the support member from which the hoist hangs. This is frequently an I-beam, such as a horizontal building support, or a crane, such as a jib crane or gantry crane. The distance between where the trolley rides on the beam and the load point on the hook is depicted in the figure to the right and in the schematic above (dimension C). Always remember to measure headroom with the load chain in its highest position, as shown here.
