Lifting requirements for overhead cranes
The Yuantai Crane produced an advanced overhead crane for a company that makes switchboard equipment and cable support systems.
An important company that produces switchboard equipment and cable support systems placed an order for a low headroom electric overhead crane to be made at the Yuantai Crane Machinery Company. To expedite the process of changing molds on the new line where the profiles are manufactured, the customer needed the mold handling overhead crane.
Electricity is safely distributed throughout commercial and industrial buildings using switchboards. A switchboard separates an electrical power feed into branch circuits and provides a protective circuit breaker or fuse for each circuit in a single enclosure as part of an electrical distribution system.
Switchboards are commonly built to comply with UL891 and NEMA Standard PB2, with a maximum voltage rating of 600 Vac/Vdc and a maximum bus rating of 6000 A.
Low headroom & compact overhead crane design
The newly designed electric overhead crane has less headroom because it was made with a smaller footprint in mind. The designers of Yuantai Crane's approach made it possible to position the travelling hoist on either side of the main girder, which significantly reduced the space needed for their storage next to the line.
Variable frequency control
The frequency drive is the foundation of the advanced overhead crane control system. This approach guarantees the capability of quick and precise positioning while removing jerks while turning on the crane movement and lifting systems and preventing swaying the weight.
The variable speed overhead crane comes with a low headroom hoist that guarantees easy maintenance, little headroom, and the convenience of side approaches. The ability to choose a different radio control system gives the operator practically total flexibility of movement and improves the accuracy of load movement.

- Electrical devices made by Schneider Electric (France), including frequency inverters for controlling hoist and travel drives;

- Protecting devices - thermal protection for the hoist motor; phase control relay; light and sound signaling for crane movement; load limiter;
- main contactor in the circuit; current supply to the crane - closed trolleys;
- pendant control panel; radio control system.
A team of installers from Yuantai Crane Machinery Plant completed the installation of a new crane and current supply at the location of their operation in the smallest amount of time. After the commissioning, static and dynamic tests, and training sessions were successfully completed, the customer's staff received instruction on how to properly operate the crane.
In order to speed up the technological process, increase the quantity of products, and lower production costs, new crane equipment is currently being employed during the replacement process of molds on the new profile production line.
