Form classification and application characteristics of gantry crane
The gantry crane is mainly used for the loading and unloading of goods and bulk goods in the outdoor freight yard, stockyard. Gantry crane has the characteristics of high site utilization, large operation range, wide adaptability and strong universality. It is widely used in port freight yard. Its metal structure is like a portal frame. Two legs are installed under the bearing main beam, which can walk directly on the track on the ground, and the two ends of the main beam can have extended cantilever beams.To a certain extent, gantry crane is a bridge crane whose bridge is supported on the ground track through its two side legs. Structurally, it is composed of gantry, crane running mechanism, lifting trolley and electrical parts. Some gantry cranes only have legs on one side and run on the plant or trestle on the other side, which is called semi gantry crane. The gantry crane is composed of upper bridge (including main beam and end beam), outrigger, lower beam and other parts. In order to expand the operation range of the crane, the main beam can extend beyond the outriggers to one or both sides to form a cantilever. The lifting trolley with boom can also be used to expand the operation range of the crane through the pitching and rotation of the boom.

Single girder of gantry crane
The single main beam gantry crane has the advantages of simple structure, convenient manufacture and installation and low quality. Most of the main beams are eccentric rail box frame structure. Compared with the double girder gantry crane, the overall stiffness is weaker. Therefore, this form can be adopted when the lifting capacity Q ≤ 50t and the span s ≤ 35m. The portal leg of single main beam gantry crane has two forms: L-type and C-type. The L-shape has the advantages of convenient manufacturing and installation, good stress condition and small weight. However, the space where the goods are hoisted through the outrigger is relatively small. The C-type support leg is made into an inclined or curved shape to have a large transverse space so that the goods can pass through the support leg smoothly.
Double girder of gantry crane
The double girder gantry crane has strong bearing capacity, large span, good overall stability and many varieties, but its own quality is larger and the cost is higher than that of the single girder gantry crane with the same lifting capacity. According to the different structure of the main beam, it can be divided into box beam and truss. Generally, box structure is adopted.
