Gantry Crane Specification

Gantry cranes are a type of heavy lifting equipment that is commonly used in factories, warehouses, workshops, material yards, rail yards, cargo yards, ports, and other locations. The usage of a gantry crane can significantly reduce labor intensity, increase operational efficiency, and accomplish operational mechanization and automation.

Gantry Cranes are developed on the bases of overhead bridge cranes. Therefore, the structure of gantry cranes are quite similar with that of overhead cranes. Instead of running on the runway supported on the high of the buidling facility, the gantry crane is supported by self standing gantry cranes, which runs on the ground rail beams. The main beam, end beam, lower cross beam, and leg are the main components. Box beams and truss beams are the most common primary beams, with truss beams created by welding steel tube sections and box beams made by welding plates. End beams are positioned at both ends of the main beam and are made up of slab beams, trusses, and wheels that support the main beam.

In most cases, the two legs of a gantry crane with a span of less than 30m are stiff legs. When the span exceeds 30m, the gantry crane employs both a rigid leg and a flexible leg structure.

Gantry cranes can be classified in many different ways:

According to the structure: single girder gantry crane, double girder gantry crane, box or truss gantry crane, semi gantry crane, etc.
According to the cantilever: single cantilever gantry crane, double cantilever gantry crane, gantry crane without cantilever.
