Single-speed crane hoist:

An electric hoist with only one lifting speed, often a regular speed, is referred to as a single speed crane hoist. The tonnage determines the hoisting speed. The CD1 type electric hoist is one type of the single speed hoist .

Double-speed crane hoist:

As for double speed crane hoist, the MD1 series of wire rope hoist is one good example of it. The MD1 wire rope electric hoist, which has two speeds—normal speed and slow speed—is a good example of a two-speed electric hoist. The primary and auxiliary motors' structural design enables two-speed performance.

The primary hoisting motor is close to a small, accelerating motor. The auxiliary motor is running slowly while the primary motor is operating at normal speed. The auxiliary motor, the intermediate gear, and the primary motor brake disc with gears make up an independent slow mechanism.

Working principle of double speed crane hoist:

• When the main motor is connected to a power source, the motor rotor overrides the brake spring's pressure and creates axial displacement, disengaging the brake wheel from the brake disc of the slow speed mechanism. The main motor then runs normally, and the mechanism rises or descends at a normal speed.
• When the power is turned off, the main motor's brake wheel is reunited with the slow speed mechanism thanks to the force of the brake spring. The auxiliary motor's brake opens when it is linked to the power source, and the shaft of the auxiliary motor also creates axial displacement.

The reduction gear drives the main motor brake wheel, which rotates along with the main motor and moves slowly up and down.
